Chapters 1–2

First Cycle

Judgment on Samaria and Judah for their sins, with a promise to gather the remnant.

  • Chapter 1 (c. 730 BC): The LORD comes down in judgment on Samaria and Judah, and Micah laments a wound that reaches to Jerusalem’s gate.
  • Chapter 2 (c. 730 BC): Woe to those who scheme to seize fields and houses, and reject true prophecy, yet God promises to gather the remnant.

Chapters 3–5

Second Cycle

The sins of corrupt leaders, the exalted mountain of the LORD, and the Ruler to come from Bethlehem.

  • Chapter 3 (c. 730 BC): The rulers, prophets, and priests who lead for gain are denounced, and Zion is warned it will be plowed as a field.
  • Chapter 4 (c. 730 BC): In the latter days the mountain of the LORD is exalted, nations stream to it, swords become plowshares, and the remnant is regathered.
  • Chapter 5 (c. 730 BC): From little Bethlehem comes the Ruler of ancient origin, who shepherds His flock and is their peace, and idolatry is cut off.

Chapters 6–7

Third Cycle

God’s covenant lawsuit, “do justice and love kindness,” and the God who casts our sins into the sea.

  • Chapter 6 (c. 730 BC): The LORD brings a covenant lawsuit and reveals what He requires: to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with Him.
  • Chapter 7 (c. 730 BC): Amid grief over corruption, Micah looks to the LORD and marvels at the God who pardons iniquity and casts sins into the sea.
