Micah 6

The LORD brings a covenant lawsuit against His people, calling the mountains as witnesses and pleading, “O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!” He reminds them of His redemption from Egypt. When the people wonder what sacrifices could please Him — thousands of rams, rivers of oil, even a firstborn child — Micah answers with the book’s most famous line: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” He then condemns the dishonest scales, false weights, and violence of the city.
