The section closes with two competing invitations. Lady Wisdom has built her house and set her table, calling the simple to “leave your simple ways, and live.” Over against her, Woman Folly sits loud and seductive, calling the same simple ones with the lure of stolen, secret pleasure, but “her guests are in the depths of Sheol.” Between them the chapter repeats, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”
