The passion begins. The leaders plot to kill Jesus; a woman anoints Him for burial; and Judas agrees to betray Him for thirty pieces of silver. At the Last Supper Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper, giving the bread and cup as His body and “blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” In Gethsemane He prays in agony, “Not as I will, but as you will,” is arrested, and is tried before the Sanhedrin, where He is condemned for confessing that He is the Christ — while Peter denies Him three times and weeps bitterly.
