Mark study chapter

Mark 14

c. AD 30The anointing at Bethany, the Last Supper, Gethsemane, Jesus’ arrest and trial, and Peter’s denial.

The passion narrative gathers pace. A woman anoints Jesus at Bethany for His burial; Judas agrees to betray Him. At the Last Supper Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper, giving the bread and the cup as His body and “blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.” In Gethsemane He prays in anguish, “Abba, Father... not what I will, but what you will,” and is arrested. Before the Sanhedrin He is condemned for confessing that He is the Christ, the Son of the Blessed, while Peter denies Him three times and weeps.
