Luke study chapter

Luke 15

c. AD 29The parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son — heaven’s joy over the found.

In answer to the grumbling that “this man receives sinners and eats with them,” Jesus tells three parables of lost and found. The shepherd leaves the ninety-nine to find one lost sheep, and the woman sweeps until she finds one lost coin — each ending with joy in heaven over one sinner who repents. Then comes the prodigal son, who squanders his inheritance but “comes to himself” and returns, met by a father who runs to embrace him, while the elder brother refuses to join the feast.
