A severe drought grips the land, and the people cry to God, but He tells Jeremiah not to pray for their welfare, for judgment by sword, famine, and pestilence is fixed. Jeremiah pleads that the false prophets have deceived them with visions of peace, and pours out a prayer that God would not utterly reject His people for His name’s sake.
