Isaiah 58

ZionTrue fasting is to loose the bonds of wickedness and care for the hungry and oppressed.

The LORD exposes empty religion: the people fast and seem eager to know His ways, yet oppress their workers and quarrel. True fasting, He says, is “to loose the bonds of wickedness... to share your bread with the hungry” and care for the poor; then their light will break forth like the dawn, and honoring the Sabbath will bring delight in the LORD.
