Ezekiel 17

The riddle of two great eagles and a vine depicts Babylon carrying off Judah’s king (Jehoiachin) and setting up Zedekiah, who then treacherously turns to Egypt and will fail. God will judge the covenant-breaking, but He Himself will take “a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar” and plant it on a high mountain, where it will become a noble tree — a messianic hope.
