Ezekiel 18

God repudiates the proverb, “The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge,” insisting that “the soul who sins shall die” and that each is judged for his own conduct, not his parents’. A wicked man who turns from sin will live, and a righteous man who turns to sin will die, for God has “no pleasure in the death of anyone” and pleads, “Turn, and live.”
