Esther 8

The king gives Haman’s estate to Esther and his signet ring to Mordecai. Since the original decree cannot be revoked, Esther and Mordecai obtain a second decree granting the Jews throughout the empire the right to assemble and defend themselves, and to plunder their attackers, on the appointed day. Mordecai goes out in royal robes, and “the Jews had light and gladness and joy and honor,” with many people of the land even professing to be Jews out of fear.
