Esther 7

At the second banquet the king again asks Esther’s request, and she pleads for her life and the life of her people, revealing that they have been sold for destruction and pointing to “this wicked Haman” as the enemy. The king, enraged, storms out to the garden, and returning finds Haman fallen on Esther’s couch to beg for mercy, which looks like assault. At an attendant’s word about the gallows Haman built for Mordecai, the king orders Haman hanged on it, and his wrath abates.
