Daniel 2

Nebuchadnezzar demands that his wise men not only interpret but recount his forgotten dream, on pain of death, and when they cannot, God reveals it to Daniel in answer to prayer. Daniel describes a great statue of gold, silver, bronze, and iron with feet of clay, representing successive kingdoms, and a stone “cut without hands” that smashes the statue and becomes a mountain filling the earth — “the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed.” Nebuchadnezzar honors Daniel and confesses that his God is “God of gods.”
