Daniel 3

c. 590 BCShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to bow to the golden image and are delivered from the fiery furnace.

Nebuchadnezzar sets up a towering golden image and commands all to worship it, but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse, declaring, “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us... But if not... we will not serve your gods.” Cast into a furnace heated sevenfold, they walk unharmed in the flames with a fourth figure “like a son of the gods,” and the astonished king praises the God who sent His angel to deliver His servants.
