Acts study chapter

Acts 6

c. AD 31Seven are chosen to serve the widows, and Stephen, full of grace and power, is seized by opponents.

As the church grows, a complaint arises that Greek-speaking widows are being overlooked in the daily distribution. The apostles have the church choose seven Spirit-filled men, including Stephen, to serve, so that the apostles can devote themselves to prayer and the word. Stephen, full of grace and power, does great signs, but opponents who cannot withstand his wisdom stir up false witnesses and seize him, though his face shines “like the face of an angel.”
