Before the council, Paul cleverly divides the Pharisees and Sadducees over the resurrection, and the assembly dissolves into an uproar. That night the Lord stands by Paul and encourages him: “As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.” When more than forty men vow to kill Paul, his nephew reveals the plot, and the commander sends Paul under heavy guard to Governor Felix in Caesarea.
