Acts 11

c. AD 38Peter defends the Gentile mission, and the church at Antioch is founded, where believers are first called Christians.

Back in Jerusalem, Peter defends his going to the Gentiles by recounting his vision and the Spirit’s coming, and the church glorifies God that He has “granted repentance that leads to life” even to the Gentiles. The scattered believers preach to Greeks in Antioch, where a great number believe; Barnabas is sent, brings Saul, and there the disciples are first called “Christians.” The Antioch church sends relief to Judea during a famine.
