Sheba, a Benjaminite, exploits the tribal quarrel and leads the north in revolt, “We have no portion in David.” Joab, having treacherously murdered his rival Amasa, pursues Sheba to the fortified town of Abel, where a wise woman, to spare her city, persuades the people to throw Sheba’s head over the wall, ending the rebellion.
