2 Kings study chapter

2 Kings 15

c. 750 BCA rapid succession of kings, as Assyria under Tiglath-pileser begins to carry Israel away.

The chapter races through a period of decline and instability: Azariah (Uzziah) of Judah reigns long but is struck with leprosy for his presumption, while Israel churns through kings by assassination — Zechariah, Shallum, Menahem, Pekahiah, and Pekah. Under them the Assyrian king Tiglath-pileser begins to invade and to carry portions of Israel into exile.
