2 Kings study chapter

2 Kings 14

c. 790 BCAmaziah of Judah and Jeroboam II of Israel reign, and the north enjoys a brief resurgence.

Amaziah of Judah defeats Edom but then, in pride, provokes a disastrous war with Jehoash of Israel and is defeated, and Jerusalem’s wall is broken and the temple plundered. In the north, Jeroboam II reigns long and restores Israel’s borders, a brief prosperity granted in mercy through the prophet Jonah, though the nation’s sin remains.
