2 Kings 13

c. 798 BCElisha dies, and even his bones raise a dead man; Israel is oppressed and partly delivered from Aram.

In Israel, Jehoahaz and then Jehoash reign amid Aramean oppression, and God shows mercy for the sake of His covenant. The dying Elisha gives King Jehoash a sign of partial victory over Aram through arrows, rebuking his half-hearted faith. Even after Elisha’s death his power lingers: a corpse hastily thrown into his grave revives at the touch of his bones.
