Jonathan, with only his armor-bearer, boldly attacks a Philistine garrison, trusting that “nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.” God sends a panic and an earthquake, and the Philistines rout themselves as Israel joins the pursuit. But Saul’s rash oath forbidding food weakens his men, and Jonathan, who unknowingly ate honey, is nearly executed until the people ransom him.
