1 Samuel study chapter

1 Samuel 12

c. 1050 BCSamuel’s farewell address calls Israel to fear and serve the LORD despite the sin of asking for a king.

Samuel gives his farewell address, calling all Israel to witness that he has led them honestly and taken nothing. He rehearses the LORD’s saving deeds, names their demand for a king as a great evil, yet assures them that if both they and their king fear and obey the LORD, all will be well. As a sign he calls down thunder and rain in the dry season, and the people, terrified, beg his prayers; he promises to keep interceding and teaching them the good way.
