1 Kings study chapter

1 Kings 2

c. 970 BCDavid charges Solomon to walk faithfully, and Solomon establishes his kingdom, removing his rivals.

David gives Solomon his final charge: to be strong, to walk in the LORD’s ways, and to keep His law, so that the Davidic promise may stand; he also leaves unfinished business regarding Joab and Shimei. After David’s death Solomon consolidates the throne, executing Adonijah for again seeking Abishag and the kingdom, banishing Abiathar, and dealing with Joab and Shimei, so that “the kingdom was firmly established.”
