At Gibeon the LORD appears to Solomon in a dream and offers him whatever he asks. Solomon, confessing he is but a child before a great task, asks not for long life or riches but for βan understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil.β Pleased, God grants him unrivaled wisdom along with riches and honor, and Solomon proves it by discerning the true mother of a living child.
