Romans 7

Paul explains that believers have died to the law through the body of Christ, so as to belong to another — to the risen Christ — and bear fruit for God. The law itself is holy and good, but it exposes and even provokes sin without being able to cure it. In vivid terms Paul describes the anguished struggle with indwelling sin: “I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” He cries, “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” and answers, “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
