Revelation 3

The letters continue to three churches. Sardis has “the reputation of being alive, but you are dead,” and is called to “wake up.” Philadelphia, though weak, has “kept my word and have not denied my name,” and is promised an open door and preservation. Laodicea, “lukewarm,” neither hot nor cold, is wealthy and self-satisfied yet “wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked,” and is lovingly rebuked and called to repentance, with the tender appeal: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.”
