Proverbs study chapter

Proverbs 22

a good name and training children“Train up a child in the way he should go,” and the beginning of the words of the wise.

The Solomonic collection closes with sayings valuing “a good name” above great riches, warning that “the rich rules over the poor,” and giving the well-known counsel, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” The chapter then begins a new section, “the words of the wise,” urging trust in the LORD and honest dealing.
