Matthew study chapter

Matthew 2

c. 5–4 BCThe magi worship the newborn King, and the family flees to Egypt to escape Herod’s slaughter of the infants.

Wise men from the east, following a star, come to Jerusalem seeking the newborn King of the Jews, and find and worship Him in Bethlehem, presenting gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The jealous King Herod, seeking to destroy the child, orders the massacre of Bethlehem’s infants, but Joseph is warned to flee with the family to Egypt. Each movement — Bethlehem, Egypt, the return to Nazareth — fulfills the prophets.
