Mark 2

The conflicts begin. Jesus heals a paralytic lowered through the roof and, to prove His authority to forgive sins, pronounces the man forgiven, provoking charges of blasphemy. He calls Levi the tax collector and eats with sinners, declaring, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” When questioned about fasting, He speaks of new wine and fresh wineskins, and when accused of Sabbath-breaking, He declares that “the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath,” and that He is “lord even of the Sabbath.”
