Mark 12

In the parable of the tenants, Jesus exposes the leaders who reject the owner’s beloved son, and declares that “the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” He silences a series of hostile questions — on paying taxes to Caesar (“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s”), on the resurrection, and on the greatest commandment (to love God and love neighbor). He warns against the scribes and commends a poor widow who gives two small coins, “everything she had.”
