Passing through Samaria, Jesus asks a woman at a well for a drink and offers her “living water” welling up to eternal life. He gently reveals her sin and His own identity as the Christ, and she brings her town to Him, so that many believe. He teaches His disciples that His food is to do the Father’s will and that the fields are ripe for harvest. Returning to Cana, He heals an official’s son from a distance, His second sign.
