The chapter mocks the folly of idolatry — idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, made of wood and silver, unable to speak or walk — and contrasts them with the true and living God, the King of the nations, who made the earth by His power and wisdom. Everyone who trusts idols will be put to shame.
