Isaiah’s son is given a name signifying swift plunder, for Assyria will soon overrun Syria and Israel and sweep into Judah like a flood up to the neck. Yet the prophet is told not to fear what the people fear but to “honor the LORD of hosts as holy,” who is a sanctuary to those who trust Him but a stone of stumbling to those who do not; he binds up his testimony and waits on the LORD.
