The LORD reminds stubborn Israel that He announced things beforehand so they could not credit their idols, and that for His own name’s sake He refines and does not cut them off. He longs that they had heeded His commandments, for then their peace would have been like a river, and He calls them to “go out from Babylon... the LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.”
