Hosea study chapter

Hosea 8

c. 735 BC“They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”; Israel’s idolatry and forgotten Maker.

Israel has “sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind,” for they set up kings and idols without God’s approval, especially the calf of Samaria, which will be broken to pieces. Having “forgotten his Maker,” Israel’s altars have become altars for sinning, and judgment is at the door.
