Hebrews 1

The letter opens without a greeting, plunging into its theme: “Long ago... God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,” the heir of all things, through whom He made the world, “the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature,” who “upholds the universe by the word of his power” and, having made purification for sins, “sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” A chain of Old Testament quotations proves the Son’s superiority to the angels: He is called God’s Son, is worshiped by angels, is addressed as God whose throne is forever, while the angels are but “ministering spirits sent out to serve.”
