Daniel 6

Under the Persians, Daniel so distinguishes himself that jealous officials trick King Darius into a decree forbidding prayer to anyone but the king. Daniel, undeterred, continues to pray toward Jerusalem three times a day and is cast into the lions’ den, but God shuts the lions’ mouths and delivers him unharmed. Darius, overjoyed, issues a decree that all should fear “the living God... whose kingdom shall never be destroyed.”
