David’s sins begin to echo in his children. His son Amnon, obsessed with his half-sister Tamar, feigns illness and rapes her, then despises and casts her out. David is angry but does nothing, and Tamar’s full brother Absalom nurses his hatred for two years before having Amnon killed at a feast, then fleeing into exile.
