2 Corinthians 1

Paul opens by blessing “the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction.” He tells of a deadly peril in Asia that taught him to rely not on himself but on “God who raises the dead.” He defends the sincerity of his conduct and explains that his change of travel plans was to spare them, not from fickleness, for in Christ all God’s promises find their “Yes” and “Amen,” and God has sealed believers with the Spirit as a guarantee.
