Solomon resolves to build a house for the name of the LORD and a palace for himself. He writes to Hiram, king of Tyre, requesting cedar and a master craftsman, and Hiram gladly supplies both, blessing the LORD who made heaven and earth. Solomon conscripts a great labor force of resident foreigners for the enormous work.
