Jehoshaphat succeeds Asa and grows strong because he walks in the earlier ways of David, seeking God and not the Baals. Notably, he sends officials, Levites, and priests throughout Judah to teach the Book of the Law to the people, and the fear of the LORD falls on the surrounding nations so that they bring him tribute and he becomes exceedingly great.
