1 Corinthians 15

Paul reminds them of the gospel he preached and they received: “that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day,” and appeared to many witnesses. If Christ has not been raised, preaching and faith are in vain and the dead perish — “but in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. Paul describes the resurrection body as imperishable, powerful, and glorious, and proclaims the mystery that at the last trumpet the dead will be raised and death swallowed up: “O death, where is your victory?” Therefore, “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
