Revelation 13

The dragon summons “a beast rising out of the sea,” to whom he gives power, and the whole world worships it and “makes war on the saints.” Then “another beast” rises “out of the earth,” which performs signs and forces people to worship the first beast and to receive “a mark” without which they cannot buy or sell — its number being 666. This chapter unveils the satanic system that demands the allegiance owed to God alone, calling for “the endurance and faith of the saints.”
