Psalms 6

David; penitentialA plea for mercy and healing out of anguish, sure the LORD hears his weeping.

The first penitential psalm, a groaning plea for mercy out of bodily and spiritual anguish, David’s bed drenched with weeping. Yet it ends in sudden confidence: “the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping,” and his enemies will be turned back.
