Psalms 55

An anguished lament over the treachery of a close companion — “it is you, a man, my equal, my familiar friend” — that pierces deeper than an enemy’s attack. Amid fear and grief the psalm gives the counsel, “Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you.”
