Psalms 38

David; penitentialA groaning confession of sin and sickness, waiting for the LORD.

A penitential lament in which David, under the crushing weight of sin and sickness, groans that his iniquities have gone over his head. Forsaken by friends and surrounded by foes, he waits silently for the LORD, confessing his sin and pleading, “Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.”
