Nehemiah study chapter

Nehemiah 11

445 BCLeaders and lot-chosen families settle in Jerusalem to repopulate the city.

Because Jerusalem is underpopulated, lots are cast so that one in ten of the people will live in the holy city, and others volunteer, and the people bless those willing to settle there. The chapter lists the leaders, priests, Levites, gatekeepers, and families who dwell in Jerusalem and in the surrounding towns of Judah and Benjamin, filling the restored city with a settled community devoted to its service.
