Matthew records a series of miracles displaying Jesus’ authority: He cleanses a leper, heals the servant of a Roman centurion whose great faith He praises, and heals Peter’s mother-in-law and many others, fulfilling Isaiah’s word that He bore our diseases. He teaches the cost of following Him, stills a raging storm with a word so that even the winds and sea obey Him, and casts a legion of demons out of two men into a herd of pigs.
