Jesus is brought before Pilate, then Herod, and back to Pilate, who three times finds no guilt in Him yet yields to the crowd, releasing Barabbas and delivering Jesus to be crucified. On the way and at the cross, Jesus speaks tenderly — weeping for Jerusalem, praying “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” and promising the penitent thief, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” He commits His spirit to the Father and dies; a centurion praises God, and Joseph of Arimathea buries Him.
